Robert C. Jackson
“I believe that fundamentally, the core of our being is fed by both the comedic and the dramatic. However, the tendency of most art leans towards drama, leaving us slightly malnourished. Therefore, I have a pretty simple hope: to feed the appetite with a touch of humor and provide some pleasure to life. I try to engage the mind and heart of the viewer with amusing narratives.
I am acting as a playwright, starting at Act 1/Scene 1, allowing the audience to imagine and determine the rest of the interactions, scenarios and even the ending. Fruit, balloons, cakes, toys, and cookies are my actors, always on the verge of some sort of role play. Vivid colors, composition, props and text provide the staging and scenarios, all participating in the enhancement of the story. Interpretation is left to each individual admirer." - Robert C. Robert C. Jackson, "Nachos," 2025, oil on linen, 30 x 40 inches, $18,000
“My balloon dog meals are very popular. I think it is because they include things we all long for: hope, vibrancy, community, and…food! I’m always thinking of new culinary meetings for these characters. I had some fun with this one, going to local restaurants and ordering nachos. I wanted to find a place where the cheese really pulled - no cheese sauce!” - RCJ

Robert C. Jackson, "An Artist's Doodling," 2025, oil on linen, 40 x 30 inches, $18,000
“The concept was to have an evolving canvas, not really knowing where it would go, a piece I could keep adding to when I thought of another item that could be mounted to a wall. It grew over months and became somewhat of a trompe l’oeil doodle in painting form.” - RCJ

Robert C. Jackson, "Piggies," 2025, oil on linen, 40 x 30 inches, $18,000
“Every once in a while, I personally show up in my paintings. Seven piggies wasn't enough here. So, I decided to reach into this one. However, the deeper question is: am I adding the donut or taking it away?” - RCJ

Robert C. Jackson, "C'est La Vie," 2025, oil on linen, 40 x 30 inches, $18,000
“Pondering life lately, I suppose turning 60 and now 61, watching my kids figure out their own lives, and losing my own Dad. There are so many twists and turns, from light to dark, and back and forth again. Here’s to the hope for the flower blooming at the end.” - RCJ

Robert C. Jackson, "Teemage Dream," 2025, oil on linen, 40 x 30 inches, $18,000
“When I graduated High School I was 6’3” and less than 150 lbs. I couldn’t put on weight if I tried. This painting harkens back to those days of a mouthwatering dream burger of excess!” - RCJ

Robert C. Jackson, "He Sells Sea Shells," 2025, oil on linen, 40 x 30 inches, $18,000
“When I was in 6th grade, I had to write an “About Me” biography. I’m sure many kids wrote President, Astronaut, Rock Star, etc. I dreamed of being a monkey trainer and making sea-shell people…selling them alongside the road.” - RCJ

Robert C. Jackson, "Implements," 2025, oil on linen, 40 x 30 inches, $18,000
“Right after I painted this, my buddy Drew Wiedemann was photographing me for my book “Robert C Jackson: It’s a Colorful Life”. If you happen to look at the photo of me opposite of the Contents page, I hid a toothbrush in my grip as an Easter Egg nod to this piece.” - RCJ

Robert C. Jackson, "The Last Subber," 2025, oil on linen, 24 x 60 inches - SOLD
“Over the years, I've been asked countless times if my balloon dog feast paintings are a take-off on Leonardo's Last Supper. Nope. But I thought it would be kind of funny to further poke that thought a little with The Last Subber.” – RCJ

Robert C. Jackson, "Circles & Squares," 2024, oil on linen, 36 x 24 inches, $13,500
“Intrigued as I am by Josef Albers, I find it interesting just how adamant he was about the square. Then along comes Hirst and his little circles. I suppose this piece is all about dichotomy…in a fun composition, with a strong art history dialogue.” - RCJ

Robert C. Jackson, "Warhol & Johns," 2024, oil on linen, 24 x 18 inches, $9,000
“In 2024 I was invited to paint a room for a local “art” hotel. On one spot I wanted to paint a little alcove with a nod to Warhol’s soup can. I decided to practice on canvas, and as I worked I thought “this piece is too fun not to finish.” I decided to throw my brushes in the can as a nod to Jasper Johns’ coffee can with his brushes…so a combination of these two artists was formed (or 3 if you want to count me.)” - RCJ

ABOUT THE ARTIST

"Robert Jackson’s work has always been more than just beautiful. His paintings, rendered in realist fashion, exhibit a masterful technique. The pieces are vibrant and colorful. His compositions are well balanced and complete. He makes painting look easy. Yet the work possesses uncommon depth. It displays a sharp wit. It personifies human nature in a disarming way. By employing playful objects such as cakes & candy, balloons & toys, fruits & vegetables, Jackson is able to replicate potentially disastrous circumstances, naughty behavior, and sticky situations in a humorous manner. In addition, Bob’s paintings characterize popular puns and explore American vernacular. In so doing he provides an aperture for collectors to connect to the work on many levels." - Zola Solamente, Owner, Arden Gallery
